Connelly Ski's 2018/19 Season Preview

Connelly have been on the slow comeback trail, while they haven't been continuously changing the landscape of waterskiing, they have produced a solid line of both new and updated shapes over the past few seasons. From the incorporation of the Concept shape in both a men's and women's provided a stepping stone, as well as a great ski for mum and dad who wanted a ski with a traditional feel. For the guys who wanted to push it that little bit harder, they developed the V range, performance with some extra width for comfort. If you really want to go...

Radar Ski's 2018/19 Season Preview

Radar achieved an incredible feat since they're inception in 2005/06, rising as one of the giants of the waterski industry. Where Radar excel, is in their demand for constant development and not resting on their laurels. To work for Radar is to be forward thinking, which is why from year to year it has become expected that there will alway be something new. For the 2017/18 season it was the updated Vapor shape, featuring a flexbox tip and a return to traditional full concave's. This didn't stop there, continued dominance through intermediate ranges with the Senate/Lyric and entry levels with...

O'Brien 2018/19 Season Preview

If you walked into most shops last year in Australia, you might have thought O'Brien had shut up shop. This couldn't be farther from the case. So what happened? Are they in purgatory, have they been sin-binned, did the Hulk pulverise them? No, No and don't be ridiculous. O'Brien have gone through wakeboardings incarnation of a rebuild, and much like the Melbourne Demons (or the Cleveland Browns for our American friends) this rebuilds had more left turns than right. Starting with a competition presence that has lacked apart from Cory Tuenissen, there hasn't been much brand exposure (as a write...

HO Skis 2018/19 Season Preview

HO Ski's had a big overhaul last season with the end of the TX and CX models, leading to the introduction of the Omni series. This completely streamlined the range, with a model for each level and type of skier. The Omni skied smooth and was tight through turns for a ski that was slightly wider than a CX. The advantage of the Omni was its 3 constructions, ranging in stiffness dependant on your ability and confidence levels. Also added was the mid season release of the Syndicate Pro, the step back into the traditional tournament ski style. While the...

Ronix 2018/19 Season Preview

We missed these last year, but we're bringing back the season range guessing game. Ronix 2018/19 is going to be the first cab off the rank. For those who don't know how this works, we analyse the past ranges and hype behind models, in an attempt to guestimate what boards are on the chopping block and how many new boards we can expect. So with that said, let's get the ball rolling. Based on 2018 models and hype, we had a few new models and some updates of some classics {(Ronix One) If I ever write that the Ronix One...

Season Previews: We Do It For The Love

The beauty of doing these previews is the guess work that goes into it and the analysis breakdown. Though sometimes i wonder whether we predict these things way to early. Considering we're still months away from even seeing any hard proof, not to mention even further away from warm weather. But since i spent 3 weeks prior to the NFL draft listening to every mock i get could get my hands on, i've realised that it's never to early to start guessing, particularly when it's estimated. Are my previews perfect? Of course not. This isn't an exact science, but they...

2017 Moomba Masters Wrap-Up

The 2017 Moomba Masters is officially over, with the banks now cleared and another set of athletes going down in the history books as winners of Melbourne's prestigious event. This year won't go down just as another Moomba Masters, this year things changed. 2017 is the year waterskiing made a comeback in the spectators eyes. Not only did course records consistently get matched and others tumble, this year saw record spectator numbers fill the banks and embrace our great sport. With an estimated 1.2 million people attending the Moomba Festival, plus 200,000 keen viewers vying for the best viewing position across...

Ronix 2017 Season Preview

Trying to determine what Ronix is going to do is like blindfolding a child, spinning him around, handing him a dart and saying hit the bullseye. That is the truth behind the mad scientist that is Paul O'Brien and his R and D department. I didn't truly expect the Bandwagon to go after 2 years in the range and be replaced by a more streamlined version, but hey it did, and i sure didn't think we would see the end to the William. That is the fun in trying to predict these things, sometimes it pays off or in Ronix's case you...

US Masters Wrap-Up

Over the US's Memorial Day long weekend, Nautique hosted the 57th Annual US Masters for waterskiing in Atlanta, Georgia. Only the best are considered for the invitational event at Callaway Gardens, pitted against the strongest fields on what is arguably the biggest stage for waterskiing and wakeboarding alike. Unlike the previous Nautique event, the Moomba Masters, the top of the podiums didn't show much surprise, though for the 2nd and 3rd placings, we saw a big mix up and possibly a sign of things for the future of waterskiing. From comebacks to first time podiums at the event, this years US masters...

Radar 2017 Season Preview

Radar year in and year out has proven itself an ever growing force within the waterski industry, now seeing itself at the top of the consumer podium neck and neck with HO, while the rest sit behind and watch these 2 heavyweights go head to head. Last year we saw a rejig of the Vapor ski, to a ski that kept it's speed, but increased it's ability to pivot off it's apex quicker, cutting time from buoy to buoy. We also saw Radar release it's competitor to HO's Freeride, and it was a genuine breath of fresh air, with what...
